You're not fooling me R.I.P.

Post number twohundredandtwentytwo!

This is a[nother] long ranty TVB post. Yes, again. Because, freaking hell, I am rather annoyed at how everyone thinks Siu Tsui (I can't be bothered to type in chinese) is so selfish and annoying and wants Chung-ling all to herself, and because of that teams up with Ko Jit and tries to harm the relationship between Chung-ling and Sum Yu.

GAHH.

Okay, so you see, the whole point is that I don't even think that Siu Tsui actually romantically loves Chung-ling in the first place, it's more of that she enjoys spending time and having physical contact with him but I wouldn't say that she loves him the way he loves Sum Yu. There are evidences that show that, you know. It's like how she's jealous not when the three of them are spending time together. She isn't angry at Sum Yu, and she doesn't mind being with both of them, so long as she can spend time with Chung-ling. And considering the fact that she is a fox spirit who just recently turned into a human, I'm not surprised. If even humans themselves can barely understand the feelings they have for each other, how can you expect a fox spirit who has just turned into a human to understand what a human does not? Refer to the time when Siu Tsui prayed to the Nine-Tailed Fox. She tells the Nine-Tailed Fox that she doesn't know what's she's feeling, and she doesn't understand why it makes her feel the way she does. Siu Tsui doesn't understand that what she's feeling is love, and how to respond to it. The way she loves him is the same as how she loves attention, how she loves how he makes her feel happy. For her, it is all about gratification. She sees the amount of attention that he's paying to Sum Yu and because she wants that, she wants him to love her too so that she can get that attention. The way she loves him can't be classified by our modern day standards of love, because it doesn't fit in any class. After all, there isn't any class that includes the love of a woman/animal. She wants attention and physical contact the way a pet wants love and attention from its master, or the way a sibling's attention is taken away with the involvement of a new person. It's similar to having your playmates and best friends being taken with each other and ignoring you. She's just lonely. And, as she herself admitted, she says that she's happy for them. She says that she's just sad when she saw them together, and as treated as if she's invisible. She doesn't know if it's because she loves him, but she thinks it is, because she's an animal spirit and totally new to the human world, which she has no contact with until now. Think about it this way, if you were born straight as an adult, or young adult, into the human world, you wouldn't understand society's rules or expectations, and you wouldn't previously have the freedom of exploring these feelings. Siu Tsui tells Sum Yu that she just wants to stay by Chung-ling's side so that she can care for him, which to her mind - that of an animal spirit - would be in the same way that a pet would love and care for it's master. However, to Sum Yu, who has grown up in a human society, and has a different understanding of the terms 'love', 'romance', 'fidelity' and 'marriage', Siu Tsui appeared to her as wanting Chung-ling alone and for herself, something that her human mind cannot accept because she feels that she loves Chung-ling and cannot really share him with someone else. This, of course, does not apply to Siu Tsui because she obviously does not mind spending time with both of them, so long as she isn't neglected, and just wants to be able to stay by his side and spend time with him, with the one who can't accept that being Sum Yu. Sum Yu misunderstands this by thinking that she loves him in the sense that she wants him to be with her only, because her human nature doesn't allow the sharing of the person she loves and she does not understand that as a fox, Siu Tsui does not interpret that the same way. Everytime they has a conversation togerher, it starts off civilly until Sum Yu declares war, in which Siu Tsui will flare up because Sum Yu is misunderstanding that she only wants Chung-ling for herself. Which comes back to the point that she doesn't actually romantically love Chung-ling.

... which of course, shows that she isn't that selfish for wanting to spend time with Chung-ling, and you can also say that it is partially their fault for not trying to comprehend her animalistic mindset and instincts, and as you know what they say, the ignorant are not innocent. And the point is that Sum Yu knows that she is a fox spirit, and yet doesn't try to think that as a fox spirit who has just turned into a human, she might have a totally different mindset, and doesn't try to accommodate her. Not that I'm saying that they must, of course, but it is due to Chung-ling's negligence and the fact that he paid so much more attention to Sum Yu made Siu Tsui jealous, not of the fact that he loved her, but that he paid more attention to her. As she wanted that attention too, she tries to make him love her so that she will not be neglected.

There. Finally out of my system. Never knew watching dramas could get me so worked up and angry, but maybe rewatching does that to you - you tend to pay more attention to the story and the characters, and analyze them. Or maybe it's just me.

I'm also thinking of rewatching Wars of In-Laws, because people keep on telling me that its only saving grace is Christine Ng as Lung Hao Hao and from what I remember of the show, I have to agree. So that means in order to actually finsh my analysis of it I need to rewatch it.

... I like how Fala is singing Links To Temptation's theme song. But really, thank goodness they decided to get Fala to star with Steven because I really couldn't stand yet another Steven/Linda or Steven/Tavia. Not that I have anything against them of course, but it does get a little boring after a while. Unfortunately, they've been starring as siblings for so long (that is, in their first two collaborations, this will be the fourth time they're filming together and the previous one was Ghost Writer) that to see them being paired up as a couple almost feels like incest, or something along those lines. Hell, they even address each other as siblings. Having the two of them paired up is just... Bizarre. And I can't seem to twist my mind around it.
