You can stay for awhile
Isn't it kind of strange to realise that people (or maybe, fans) of a certain group or people kind of meet everywhere? It's like a small core group of people who listen to and are exposed to the same sorts of music. And go out of their way to find or make them accessible to the rest of us. It's like I can almost group people already.
Some people transcribe. Some people interview. Some people dig out old photos. Some people rummage for tapes. Some people host. Some people write. Some people are more familiar in one particular band or area than another. Some people spread words. Then there are people who dabble in more areas than others. It is absolutely fascinating.
The internet is "sort of" amazing, isn't it?
Also, being able to improvise on instruments must be some amazing skill... or you must be really familiar with the instrument, how it feels, how it sounds, what it does. Harmonizing on the other hand always seemed to a bit more natural to me.
Stuff to revisit on youtube:
Toni and the Movers (and Nadia Kapiche)
Elton Duck
(...I feel embarrassed to say this almost but) The [Early] Runaways
The Doors
